About

Practical Psychiatry Practitioner

Dr. XiXi Wong, MD

Thank you for your interest in my practice. I have lived in the Pittsburgh area since coming for medical school in 2005. Since graduating residency in 2016, I have worked in different levels of care within the mental health field (including emergency room, outpatient, IOP, PHP, and inpatient). Over the course of my training at UPMC, I fell in love with Pittsburgh and decided to make this area my home. Aside from my private psychiatry practice, I also provide services in telepsychiatry through American Well Online Care Group affiliated online clinics. I look forward to meeting you and discussing how we can work together to address your mental health concerns.

Training:
  • University of Pittsburgh Medical School (graduated 2011)
  • University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (completed dual Psychiatry-Family Medicine Residency in 2016)
  • Board certified in Psychiatry (ABPN 2016)
  • Board certified in Family Medicine (ABFM 2016)

Treatment Philosophy

I strive to provide practical, evidence-based mental health care.

This includes:

  1. Providing a safe environment to discuss your mental health concerns.
  2. Encouraging therapy to learn and improve lifelong coping skills.
  3. Recommending medications only when clinically indicated.
  4. Streamlining medication regimens to reduce polypharmacy, drug interactions, and medication costs.
  5. Avoiding potentially addicting, controlled substances whenever possible.
  6. Identifying potential medical issues which may manifest psychiatric symptoms.
  7. Collaborating with primary care and therapists to facilitate integrated care.
